Being a CEO my target is to create a work environment where innovation is encouraged in all aspects; every person's feedback, experiences and input is valued. Either it is a junior designer or a senior developer everyone’s perspective should be considered. Being a CEO, I work to keep the vision and mission of my company alive and aspiring. Some think that CEO’s are only responsible for only setting up the business strategy. Well, this is not the right definition of a CEO. According to me, CEO is the ultimate direction setter. This is what I do here. This is my job to decide which market to enter, which competitor to be faced, what product lines should be, how Ignytes will differentiate itself among other software houses. It is CEO, who take decisions, sets budgets, forms partnerships, hires and fires to build up an acutely filtered team that steer the company accordingly.
When I talk to people looking to enter this arena, I stress three things. One: Grow your online presence. Two: Networking is essential. And three: Learning doesn’t end with school. To develop a creative mind, staying fresh and inspired is the main thing one needs to do. Being an art director my mates think that I have the most chilling job in the world and which is true at some extent, but simultaneously I am responsible for constantly emailing clients, attending meetings, taking brainstorming sessions, directing entry to senior level designers and most significantly maintaining the morale of the department, encouraging teamwork and creativity, creating a fun environment for the team, interacting with management and meeting deadlines still my job description doesn’t end here and so do my working hours. Because you never know when an artist’s mind get clicked.
The most important thing about IT manager’s job is knowing enough about a lot of things so you can manage a lot of people who know about different things. If you decide to go into management, you have to learn how a system works rather than how a particular project works. When something breaks, IT managers don't always have to wait on somebody else to manage a simple situation. If you expose yourself to different technology and a myriad of situations, then when you start to manage people, you can understand their pain points and where such people are lacking.
